Thoughts on Priesthood:

Priesthood is something I am working for, looking forward to, and long for. it is a way to serve more deeply and fully. it is a sacrifice and a blessing.

Why I Want to Be a Priest:

I want to be a priest because I feel that being a priest is what God is calling me to do and I want to follow God wherever he may lead me. I feel that he is leading me to be a priest so I am doing all that I can so I can be a good priest. Saying yes to being a priest is my choice for God.

How did your family and friends react when you made that decision? Are they supportive now?

Everyone I know has been supportive. I have not met any real confrontation with my family and friends. My family and friends were very excited.

What is the hardest part of being in the seminary?

It used to be hardest living away from my family but I thankfully grew out of that. Now I would say the hardest thing is keeping myself from procrastinating with the homework.

What is the best part?

All the time we have for prayer and opportunities for spiritual growth is part of it. The it is also making friends and journeying towards the priesthood in fellowship.

Who/what influenced your decision to enter the seminary?

God and the way that he moves. I was a core member on a retreat and for a prayer group exercise each person picked a rock. Mine had a cross engraved into it and I knew now was the time to move.

Hobbies & Interests:

Playing cards and board games, reading, listening to music, going out with friends

What advice would you give to a young man thinking about the priesthood?

Seminary is a great place to think about priesthood. Don’t just think about it though. Pray, discuss, offer a sacrifice (fasting or almsgiving) or whatever else but take it seriously. There is more joy in the call than most things.
