Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on celibate life. The fact that following the Lord’s call will require me to lay down my dreams of being a wife and mother is scary, and has been one of the major hindrances to my obedience. It’s encouraging to know that others are walking this road. You do an excellent job of pointing out the beauty and heroism of such a sacrifice (though, granted, it’s a little different for women, considering the fact that we don’t really have masculine shoes to fill). Thank you for your generous gift of self to the Church, and for sharing your journey with the rest of us :)

Fr. Andy was a childhood friend of my mother Kitty McEntee (nee Regan).We have fond memories of his visits to Kells every summer & I had the great honour of spending several happy days with Fr Andy in both Davis & LA in 1989 & 1990. He was always so warm, kind & welcoming. We miss his annual Visits & in recent years his Christmas cards. Fr Andy was a very spiritual man & we hope that he is now at peace in the arms of Our Lady.

Andy was a dear and special friend to our family when we moved there from Berkeley in 1965 and remained so over all the years since. Aside from being an exceptional priest, I considered him a personal friend as well. Our family loved his wit almost as much as his company. I knew he was drawing near to his passing when we had breakfast last Christmas Eve, but as always, he weathered with patience and humility what God threw his way. Andy, I miss you and will offer many prayers on your behalf. Godspeed

I have very happy memories, of Andy’s holidays each summer in Ireland, over the years of his priesthood and before that of growing up together. Unfortunately I was unable to travel to America for his funeral but it has been lovely to have seen the video footage taken so recently on his birthday this July. Betty ( Andy’s sister)
